Calgary experienced its first boom in 1912, growing from a dusty, little prairie town into a thriving city. The population exploded and the streets bustled with activity. It’s no coincidence that there are so many centennial celebrations this year! Walk in the footsteps of Western Canada’s early pioneers and experience what life was like 100 years at Heritage Park Historical Village.
Meet the friendly townsfolk as you stroll along the wooden boardwalks, or pop into the many historic shops that line main street full of trinkets and treasures from days gone by. Uncover facts about Western Canadian history as you explore the far reaches of the Park. Watch the stories unfold of the first Stampede, Calgary's first Library and the early days of Calgary Recreation. Immerse yourself in the full sensory experience of life 100 years ago the clatter of the train, the smell of freshly baked bread and the red-hot irons of the blacksmith.
